Going back to the beginning of the 16th century, the period during which the work is supposed to have been conceived, the Italian painter was one of the authors involved in the representation of this central myth of European culture, dealt with by artists of all times (in ceramics, mosaics and Greek and Roman sculpture, in the Pompeii Frescoes, but also in the painting of Michelangelo, Correggio, Boucher, Cézanne, Cy Tombly, among others).

Going back even further, the myth of Leda and the Swan is told as follows: Leda, wife of Tyndareus, king of Sparta, was seduced by Zeus transformed into a Swan, and from this relationship Helen of Troy, Polux, Castor and Clytemnestra were born, with very singular destinies and symbologies for the West. The very myth of Leda is the transformation into an image of the relational possibilities between gods and humans, which include dissimulation, seduction and incarnation].
